As an add on to this thread....
Dead Base has a feature that rates the top shows by year as well as by "alltime".

Was wondering what others think of their rating system?
I think it is a good resource, but I sometimes think that it can be hit or miss. But that just may be my opinion. I say that because I question quite a number of shows that Dick (a so called expert) thought were worthy of release. I know it is a matter of perspective and my perspective is often times different than the mainstream.

So..what say you all?? Is Deadbase a good reference for what Shooting Dark Star is looking for?

I'd say yes.... Deadbase is a good reference. However, there are some things about those rankings that I don't trust. First off, some of the ranked shows are not in circulation and/or have no available setlist.... this makes me kind of suspicious. Secondly, the list seems a little outdated (no 10/12/68?? come on!!). Lastly, some late-era shows are ranked higher than they probably should be. I think this is because of when the voting took place. Shows that voters attended were fresh in their minds when they complied their list, therefore more likely to make the cut. That's just my theory, though.
